Its hard being an elementalist...
So my main char right now is an e/r and i gotta say, its hard getting gold, items, and whatnot. I mean, even as a lvl 20, i cna't effectively farm any good places such as the desert or the south shiverpeaks becasue i take damage too easily and elementalist armor just plain sucks. Instead i haf to bring along at least a healer hench and a fighter just so i can get occasional drops. So i ask all those other elementalists out there, what do YOU do? How do you cope?

You can try using Mist Form + a lot of AOE damage spells, round up a lot of melee mobs and blast them to pieces. Or create a new character specifically for farming.

You could dodge enemies and just farm chests...

Strange. I'm an E/Mo and I do just fine. I usually use a smiting build for farming (so you'd have to switch to /Mo) and I can make about...5k an hour? Maybe, I'm not too sure. It depends on what I salvage. I'll say it's definitely no lower than 3k an hour. I usually farm Blessed Griffons outside of Camp Rankor, Sand Drakes outside of Elona Reach or anything outside of Maguuma Stade (Jungle Trolls + Moss Scarabs = easy money). I currently have about 160k in the bank, but I've bought two sets of 1.5k armour and quite a few runes and dyes. Have a look around the forums for farming builds, I'm sure you'll find something.

earth mages can handle melee damage pretty well.
earth armour + ward against melee makes melee mobs no danger at all. (+~60 armour, and 50% chance of evasion for ~20 sec). the ward against elements is not quite as good, but also can be a nice defensive boost versus elemental attacks. also it is a good idea to know what you farm, although im no expert as i farmed only twice to get collectables. the sand drakes at elonas reach for example wont use earthquake if there are two or less players/henchies, same with sand elementals. (they use aftershock, but with earth armour on that makes only about 45 damage...) i found that my E/Mo mostly has only one Mo spell at all (a heal, mostly heeling breeze), and i think trolls blood can function just the same. another good side of wards is that they cant be dispelled... |

yes, the maximum you can carry on your character is 100K (100 plat).
you can have a lot more in storage - there are people who have (or had) 1 million gold in storage - search through the screenshot forum as they have a few shots there of the 1,000 plat (1,000 plat = 1 million gold) |
